Back into the Blogging...

So I guess I have been kind of distracted lately. Luckily I came up with some new items, like the Teddy Bear Beanie and kitty hats in that time, despite the distractedness.

Random word of the day:

foofaraw \FOO-fuh-raw\, noun:
A fuss over a matter of little importance.

Lately...
I've been trying to become more focused. Meditational yoga helped, but now I need answers to my questions about how to better run the Lightning Cat shop. So I am reading up on the subject and making a few changes to my shop. One of those changes, as you might notice, is an increase in prices. Last year, I did not make much money due to charging too little for items and not charging for packaging and gift wrapping. The increase in prices is so that I can sustain my business and not fall into a bottomless money pit of doom. I'm sure you understand. No one wants to fall into a bottomless money pit of doom, or so I would like to think so.

Anywayz, I hope you enjoy your day and avoid any foofaraws!

  1. It's so hard to figure out pricing! I am having problems too and recently raised my prices because it just wasn't working out with time to money ratio. I hope it works out for us both! I love your sad kitty by the way!!

  2. Thanks for leaving a comment! :) I agree! It is difficult to figure out pricing. I found this article helpful. It even has an equation for calculating a retail price! ;) Here it is:

Thanks! The kitty keychains are super cute! I have a few left. After they're gone, I won't be carrying them any more.

Have a nice day! :) And I hope the article helps you.

  3. I have raised my prices too. At some point it's just not worth the work unless you are making enough. I really struggle with shipping prices. I so want to keep them low! But shipping is getting more and more expensive. However, I have found that people are willing to pay a little more and I'm happy now that I am actually making money for everything I sell!

  4. Yeah, shipping is a calculation all its own. Flat rate shipping would be easier, but I find that most people buy small items, and the shipping for a bubble mailer is much less than the flat rate. Last year I did not charge for packaging or gift boxes (why? I don't know... :P ) but now, I add the cost of packaging to the shipping cost. I'm not sure what to do about gift wrapping... Perhaps a separate listing?

I'm glad you are making money! I love your work. Hopefully I will get my retail website up and running soon... and I could sell your items in my online shop? :D
